After winning 15 consecutive games in the regular season, the San Francisco 49ers are now riding a losing streak. Monday night’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings makes it two in a row for San Francisco, who drops to 5-2 on the season.
Going perfect in the NFL is a tall task; that is why the last team to do it was the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Even the best teams will have lulls at times during the regular season and the 49ers are going through theirs now.
Looking to shake these struggles, expect the 49ers to look for ways to upgrade their roster ahead of the deadline on October 31st. This roster is loaded on both sides of the ball, but if the chance to add another great player to the mix arises, they will take that chance.
Could that great player be Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams? Adams has voiced his frustrations with the franchise and after a loss to the Chicago Bears this past weekend, those frustrations have grown even more.
While the Raiders don’t want to trade Adams, they could have their hand forced. They are wasting the last prime years of a superstar as this team looks to be going nowhere fast. If he is made available, a source who spoke to NFL Analysis Network believes the 49ers would make a push to acquire him.
“If the Raiders do make Davante Adams available for trade, there will be a long list of teams with interest. However, I believe that John Lynch and the 49ers would do everything they can to push their way to the front.”
It would be hard to imagine the 49ers having the financial capability of adding another All-Pro with a top-of-the-market deal onto the roster. But, that is a luxury a franchise can afford when their starting quarterback makes as little money as Brock Purdy.
This is the best window San Francisco will have to spend big on their roster in hopes of winning a Lombardi Trophy. Acquiring Adams would also help offset whatever loss the team suffers at the wide receiver position.
Brandon Aiyuk has been a popular name in trade circles as a long-term deal for him has seemed unlikely. Or, they could keep him long-term and look for a new home for Deebo Samuel. Landing someone like Adams would provide the 49ers with plenty of flexibility at the position as Adams remains one of the best in the business at wide receiver.
