The Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles are currently discussing a major blockbuster trade involving superstar running back Jonathan Taylor.

According to a source, the Eagles have been among the most aggressive trade suitors for Taylor since he was allowed to search for a trade. They have been connected to quite a few running backs this offseason, but none that would make a bigger impact than Taylor.

Recent reports have stated that the Colts want a first-round pick or equal value to a first-round pick in return for Taylor.

At this point in time, the Eagles have D’Andre Swift and Kenneth Gainwell as their top two running backs. Both guys are quality playmakers, but neither is capable of being a workhorse. Taylor could easily come in and taken the offense to the next level and be a workhorse.

Ideally, the Eagles could offer a second-round pick and Gainwell as a potential return. That would leave Swift in town to be a third-down and change of pace kind of back. A duo of Taylor and Swift would be extremely dangerous to support superstar quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Plenty of other teams have shown interest in acquiring Taylor as well. Among those teams are the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buffalo Bills are another team to keep a close eye on as well.

Last season with the Colts, Jonathan Taylor struggled to look like he did the year before. He dealt with nagging injuries all season long. When all was said and done, Taylor carried the football 192 times for 861 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 28 receptions for 143 yards and no scores.

It will be interesting to see what the finalized trade looks like if the Colts actually do pull the trigger. A team will have to acquire him with assets and then pay him a new long-term contract. That could make things more difficult to get done.

Expect to hear more rumors in the coming hours and days about Taylor’s situation with the Colts. While the Eagles are not the only team in on trade discussions, they are certainly one of the more serious suitors.
