Los Angeles Rams fans have been eagerly anticipating Thursday night’s NFL Draft, hoping for a rare glimpse of their team making a move in the first round.
According to reports from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Rams are actively pursuing a trade to vault into the top 10 picks.
It’s been a while since the Rams had a first-round selection, dating back to 2016, just before Sean McVay took the reins as head coach. The team’s draft strategy has typically leaned towards conservatism during McVay’s tenure, making this aggressive pursuit all the more intriguing.
With their potential move up the draft board, two key positions immediately come to mind for Los Angeles.
The first is tight end, especially given the unfortunate injury to Tyler Higbee during the playoffs in January. The addition of a dynamic talent like Georgia’s Brock Bowers could inject significant firepower into the Rams’ offense.
Alternatively, the Rams may be eyeing another wide receiver to complement the already formidable duo of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. The prospect of adding someone like Marvin Harrison Jr. to catch passes from quarterback Matthew Stafford is undoubtedly tantalizing and could elevate the Rams’ offensive arsenal to new heights.
A third sleeper option could be moving up for a quarterback. With the uncertainty surrounding young signal caller Stetson Bennett, the Rams may view adding a long-term option beyond Matthew Stafford as a priority.
