The Miami Dolphins opted not to engage in any trades during the initial round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday evening, although not due to a lack of interest in potential deals.

General Manager Chris Grier selected edge rusher Chop Robinson with the 21st overall pick and later informed reporters that he remained open to trade discussions throughout the process.

“We were sitting there, there were a couple players at the end we were excited for, so we were active even trying to get back in to get another one here in the late first.”

While Grier refrained from disclosing specific players of interest, it’s possible they may still be available as the second round kicks off on Friday night.

This situation positions the Dolphins as potential contenders for an early move up in the draft, although their current assortment of draft assets could pose challenges in executing such a maneuver.

Currently holding the 55th overall pick, the Dolphins face a sizable gap until their next selection at No. 158. This circumstance might necessitate delving into their 2025 draft picks should they wish to pursue a significant trade.

It will be interesting to see how the second and third rounds of the NFL Draft unfold tonight. As always, there will be many trade talks throughout the NFL. With this report, it seems likely that the Miami Dolphins are open for business.

Expect to see yet another wild night of trades and NFL Draft drama.
