Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill?

Finally, there is a battle for the backup quarterback job behind Drew Brees. New Orleans signed Jameis Winston in free agency after a massive and brutal year at the same time in 2019. Taysom Hill was retained as well.

Both guys are capable of playing a big role should Brees go out of the game for any reason. Winston seems like the better quarterback, but his turnovers are a major concern. Hill is a jack-of-all-trades type of player that will find his way onto the field even if he doesn’t win the backup job.

Just like last season with Teddy Bridgewater, fans should expect to see Winston get the call as the starting quarterback if Brees goes down. Hill will be the No. 3 quarterback, but will play snaps at running back, quarterback, and even receiver.

The Saints love having options at quarterback. Winston could very well end up being the heir apparent to Brees long-term, depending on how long Brees wants to play. These two guys are going to compete heatedly in training camp and it will be fun to watch.
