49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk Posts Cryptic Message On Contract Status

On Monday, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said that the team would do everything it possibly could to keep wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk for the long haul.

That came in the midst of rumors that the 49ers could trade Aiyuk, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars being mentioned as interested parties.

Apparently, Aiyuk isn’t buying Lynch’s comments.

At least it doesn’t look like it.

Following Lynch’s statement on Aiyuk’s future at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting, the star wide out took to Instagram to post a rather, um, interesting story.

In other words, money talks and you know what walks.

So, basically, Aiyuk is not happy with the way things are going in terms of contract negotiations and clearly does not think San Francisco is offering him enough money.

Or, maybe the two sides have not even had much dialogue yet, and this is Aiyuk’s way of saying that the Niners better get moving.

Aiyuk is entering the final year of his deal, and given the 49ers’ financial constraints, it stands to reason that it could be his last season in the Bay.

The 26-year-old is coming off of a spectacular 2023 campaign in which he played 16 games and hauled in 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.

Aiyuk, who played his collegiate football at Arizona State, was selected by San Francisco with the 25th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

After a couple of decent seasons to begin his career, Aiyuk broke out in 2022, catching 78 passes for 1,015 yards and eight scores.

The Reno, Nv. native has established himself as the Niners’ clear No. 1 receiver, but it remains to be seen how much longer that will last.

If the 49ers want to retain Brandon Aiyuk, they are going to have to pay him the big bucks. He has made that abundantly clear.
