49ers’ Star Reveals Kyle Shanahan’s Message To Team After Loss

The San Francisco 49ers suffered a crushing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl this past Sunday, something head coach Kyle Shanahan has seen one too many times.

49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk says that after the defeat, Shanahan put things into perspective.

“There were no words,” Juszczyk said, via transcript from NFL.com. “There’s nothing that can be said that’s going to make me feel better right now. It’s just the circumstances, and we’re men that sign up for this and that’s what happens when you don’t win. What I do love that Kyle always emphasizes is, win or lose, we still go out there and live.”

That’s a fine way of putting it.

As demoralizing as the loss may have been for San Francisco and as elating as it was for the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s still just a game at its core, and even with the loss, the Niners still get to go home and be with their families afterward.

“It’s hard to put yourself out there on the biggest stage in the world and come up short and have to deal with what comes with that,” added Juszczyk. “It’s not easy but it’s something that we will never back away from and never back down from. I take pride in that you can say whatever you want and I’m going to go do it again.”

Juszczyk logged two catches for 31 yards in the Super Bowl and had a highlight-reel hurdle on one of his grabs. Had the 49ers won, that play surely would have been one of the more memorable moments of the game.

This is not the first time Juszczyk has come up short in a Super Bowl, as he also was a member of the San Francisco squad that lost to the Chiefs four years ago.

Meanwhile, Shanahan has now participated in three Super Bowls as an offensive coordinator and a head coach. He has lost all three of them, surrendering double-digit leads each time.

But at least Kyle Shanahan is able to keep a fresh outlook on the loss and move forward.
