Heading into the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers faced speculation regarding potential trades involving Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel.

This speculation persisted even after they made their selection at No. 31.

The team opted for wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, further fueling speculation about the future of the aforementioned wideouts.

General Manager John Lynch addressed the situation during a press conference, stating that discussions with Aiyuk regarding a new contract are ongoing and emphasizing Samuel’s importance to the team. However, Lynch refrained from ruling out any possibilities.

“Never close the door on a trade. I mean, we’ll always listen and we have. But we like our group as it stands.”

Head coach Kyle Shanahan echoed Lynch’s sentiment, acknowledging that while a trade involving a receiver doesn’t appear highly probable, unforeseen offers from other teams could alter the situation.

Lynch emphasized the unpredictability of the situation, indicating that the wide receiver situation for the Niners remains unresolved.

With all of that being said, the second and third rounds of the NFL Draft are going to be interesting. It seems likely that the San Francisco 49ers will keep both Samuel and Aiyuk. Adding Pearsall could simply end up being a great addition to help give Brock Purdy even more firepower.

Expect to hear a ton of rumors throughout the day as teams prepare for the start of the second round. The 49ers are always open to making moves if it improves their Super Bowl chances. Despite that fact, don’t expect anything to happen via a big blockbuster wide receiver trade.
