Offensive Upgrades
Seattle went through the 2019 season with a struggling offensive line that allowed an abysmal 48 sacks allowed over the course of the season. That means that on average, three times every game Russel Wilson was taken down and the Seahawks lost yardage on the play. That doesn’t include the additional pressures and hurries that were allowed.
The front office knew something needed to change for 2020. The Seahawks brought in a bevy of new talent to infuse into the offensive line. Brandon Shell is expected to become the new right tackle with rookie Damien Lewis, lining up next to him at the right guard spot, and B.J. Finney at center.
Such a drastic change on the offensive line may result in some early-season struggles, but it would be hard for the team to do a worse job at protecting Wilson.
With more time in the pocket, Wilson should be able to increase his passing efficiency which would spell good news for Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. The top two wide receivers for the team would welcome a Wilson who has more time and can find open playmakers. And while this unit might take a little bit to get used to, they will play their best football when it matters most, elevating the Seahawks offense.
