The Seattle Seahawks are going to be an intriguing team to keep an eye on at the NFL trade deadline. While they have been rumored to be looking at some wide receiver help, a pass-rusher would be a nice addition as well. Ryan Kerrigan could be a name to keep a close eye on.
According to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic, the Seahawks could look to make a trade deadline deal to acquire Kerrigan.
“I’ve mentioned Washington’s Ryan Kerrigan in the past couple of weeks, and he only became more attractive Sunday, when he managed another sack despite playing just seven snaps. He’s up to three on the year (and six pressures) while only playing 37 percent of Washington’s snaps. Maybe after acquiring an additional day-three pick, Seattle can make a move there or try to package a pick and a player for Kerrigan and a pick.”
Kerrigan would be a huge addition for the Seahawks. He may not have a consistent role with the Washington Football Team, but he has shown that he can still make a major impact.
Through the first six games with very inconsistent playing time, Kerrigan has racked up six total tackles to go along with three sacks and one fumble recovery. At 32 years old in the final stage of his prime, getting a chance to compete for a Super Bowl would be a perfect way to end.
For the majority of his career, Kerrigan has been a double-digit sack threat every season. He has made four Pro Bowls and is one of the most underrated stars in the NFL. Kerrigan has played his entire career in Washington so far.
If the Seahawks were able to acquire Kerrigan, he would make them a much more dangerous unit. Seattle has to figure out ways to put more pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Kerrigan would be able to bring that to the field.
Expect to hear a ton of rumors about Ryan Kerrigan as the trade deadline draws closer. Plenty of teams will come out looking to acquire him.
The Seahawks may not end up pursuing him, but he would be a perfect addition and worth the price tag.
