Game-Wrecking Run Stopper
With the San Francisco 49ers being the top threat to the Seattle Seahawks’ hopes of winning the NFC West, there’s an added importance when it comes to stopping the run. Even more so when considering this has been an area of weakness.
The impact Adams provides as a run stopper certainly shows up in the stats sheet. Per Pro Football Focus, Adams ranks first in the NFL in run stops (80) over the last two seasons along with ranking within the top-10 in tackling efficiency within that same span.
There is a clear need for the Seahawks to improve in this department and that was put on full display when they allowed a whopping 253-yard outing by the Arizona Cardinals. Overall, they allowed 117.3 opponent rushing yards (22nd most) on average in 2019.
No one player is going to automatically fix the weaknesses of an entire unit. However, Adams will be able to set the tone for the Seahawks’ defense and that can go a long way in raising the floor of their production.
