High-Level Blitz Impact
With uncertainty surrounding the possibility of Jadeveon Clowney returning to the Seattle Seahawks, finding pass rush where they can is important. With Jamal Adams, he was arguably the New York Jets’ top pass-rusher in 2019 and will help the Seahawks in this area.
According to John Owning of the Dallas Morning News, Adams is the only safety to record at least 20 QB pressures in. a single-season. He’s managed to do that in both 2018 (22) and in 2019 (25), proving to be perhaps one of the more unique pass-rush weapons in the NFL for a defense to feature.
The speed Adams on the blitz enables him to exploit the offensive line’s inability to pick him quickly enough. Additionally, his sheer strength makes it frequently too challenging for a member of the opposition’s backfield to successfully fend him off from the quarterback.
Perhaps one of the more fascinating aspects of Adams’ skill-set is that his blitz involvement not only provides an impact in pass-rush situations, it enables him to be a tantalizing run-stopper, too.
