Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock picked up his first win of the season on Monday night, leading the Seahawks to a stunning 20-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lock was starting in place of Geno Smith, who missed his second straight game due to a groin injury.

After the game, Lock had some heavy praise for Smith.

“The encouragement that he’s given me, the little pep talks here and there, helping in the film room … it was so cool that when roles flipped and I was going to have to be the starter, he did the same thing for me that I was trying to do for him,” Lock said, via the NFL on CBS. “That’s just an unselfish dude in there, man. I appreciate him more than words can describe.”

As Lock was guiding the Seahawks on a 10-play, 92-yard drive capped by a go-ahead touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 28 seconds remaining, Lock said that Smith was in his ear pumping him up.

“Talking to me before that two-minute [warning], you know, ‘You’re the best player on this field, you’re going to lead us down this field right now, go get it done,’ you know, just things like that,” Lock explained.

Lock ended up going 22-for-33 with 208 yards and a touchdown in the win. In four appearances and two starts this season overall, he has thrown for 543 yards, three touchdowns and three picks while completing 63.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 81.2.

It actually marked Lock’s first win as a starter since 2020, when he was a member of the Denver Broncos.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Missouri, was originally selected by the Broncos in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Drew Lock spent four years in Denver before being traded to Seattle in March 2022.

The Seahawks improved to 7-7 with their win over the Eagles to preserve their playoff hopes in the NFC. They also snapped a four-game losing streak in the process.

Seattle will take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
