During the first quarter of the Tennessee Titans‘ loss to the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday, quarterback Will Levis and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins were unable to connect on a deep ball.
Afterward, Levis was seen having an animated discussion with Hopkins on the sideline, and earlier this week, Levis said he regretted it.
“Maybe I forgot I was on TV,” Levis said, via Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ official team website. “Just one of those things that just happened. If I would’ve gone back, I would’ve been more neutral about it, for sure. But that’s just part of the things about being an NFL quarterback and learning along the way of how to be a leader and how to get your guys going. Definitely would’ve handled it differently if I would’ve done it again.”
Levis went 16-for-33 with 224 yards and a touchdown in the overtime defeat.
The 24-year-old was named the Titans’ starting quarterback at the end of October. In six games, he has thrown for 1,266 yards, seven touchdowns and a couple of interceptions while completing 57.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating 86.9.
Levis, who played his collegiate football at both Penn State and the University of Kentucky, was selected by Tennessee in the second round of the NFL Draft back in the spring.
In his most recent collegiate campaign, Levis threw for 2,406 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 picks while completing 65.4 percent of his passes.
Meanwhile, Hopkins logged five catches for 75 yards and a score this past weekend. On the season overall, he has caught 50 passes for 774 yards and five touchdowns.
The 31-year-old spent the first seven years of his career with the Houston Texans, making four trips to the Pro Bowl while also earning three First-Team All-Pro selections.
He was then traded to the Arizona Cardinals, where he resided for three mostly disappointing seasons. He made one Pro Bowl appearance with the club.
Hopkins signed with the Titans back in July.
Tennessee is 4-8 and will take on the Miami Dolphins next Monday.
