With the trade deadline nearly here for the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, Pro Football Focus recently spoke about a potential move they might make together
After a win against the New York Giants in Week 8, the Jets will be getting ready for a big Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, before the game against the Chargers, the organization will have to make some decisions before the NFL Trade Deadline.
The Jets have been a team that many people have been keeping their eyes on before the deadline, as they have been rumored to potentially move some players. One of the players that could be moved by the Jets is edge rusher, Carl Lawson.
Lawson was a big free agent signing for the Jets a few seasons ago but unfortunately tore his Achilles in 2021. Lawson came back for the Jets last season and recorded seven sacks, but he seems to be buried in the depth chart so far this season with both Bryce Huff and Jermaine Johnson playing well.
With Lawson not getting much playing time, there has been speculation that the Jets might look to move him. Recently, PFF spoke about a trade that would send Lawson to the Raiders for some draft compensation.
Trade compensation: 2024 fifth-round pick
Contract acquired: $3,921,568 ($3,333,333 fully guaranteed)
For the Raiders, getting someone like Lawson would help their pass rush, which has been needed since Chandler Jones left. While Maxx Crosby is an elite pass-rusher, he can’t do it all on his own.
While Lawson hasn’t stated that he wants to leave the Jets, he likely does want to get some more playing time. The Jets do utilize a lot of pass-rushers with their depth, but Lawson is accustomed to being on the field more.
With the trade deadline coming up on October 31st, we will have to monitor Lawson as a potential player to be moved.
