As the 2023 NFL Draft continues to approach, rumors are beginning to run rampant about potential trades. Aaron Rodgers is at the forefront of most of those rumors, but another name that has come up a lot is superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. With the Arizona Cardinals looking to move their star wideout, a team like the New Orleans Saints could come in and look to make a major blockbuster trade.
Granted, the Saints are not a team that has come up a lot in trade rumors surrounding Hopkins. However, they could make a ton of sense.
Right now, New Orleans will be banking heavily on Michael Thomas to come back with a strong season. He has missed most of the last two seasons due to injury. That would be a major risk to bank on.
Derek Carr was signed to a big-time contract in free agency this offseason. It’s clear that the Saints are going all-in on winning now and getting back into Super Bowl contention.
Bleacher Report has come up with one trade that the Saints and Cardinals could complete to send Hopkins to New Orleans. It would certainly shake up the entire NFC.
The Hypothetical Trade
Saints Receive: DeAndre Hopkins
Cardinals Receive: CB Bradley Roby, 2023 third-round pick (No. 71 overall)
Looking at that trade, both sides would be getting what they want. The Saints would get a true No. 1 target, which would allow Thomas to play with much less pressure on him. Carr would love the addition as well.

On the other side of the deal, the Cardinals would get the third-round pick they want, along with a cornerback to bolster their secondary. It may not be the return that fans would like to see for a player of Hopkins’ magnitude, but it’s a reasonable offer and one that is likely exactly in the area of compensation that the Cardinals would receive from any other team.
While this trade may not end up happening, it certainly is something to keep an eye on. The Saints make a ton of sense as a potential landing spot.
Expect to continue hearing rumors about DeAndre Hopkins in the coming days. The Cardinals and Saints are both expected to be busy ahead of and during the NFL Draft, and a trade like this could be in the cards.
