With Jonathan Taylor getting closer to coming back for the Indianapolis Colts, could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pull off a big trade for him?
As the NFL season moves on, one of the players who has been frequently mentioned in rumors is Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. Taylor started the season on the PUP list but is nearing his return to the field.
The relationship between Taylor and the Colts appears to have become a bit strained, and the organization might look to move him. While many teams have been linked to Taylor so far, could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers be a good fit for him?
In recent reports, the Buccaneers have been linked to Taylor and this is a very interesting notion. Coming into the season, the Buccaneers were expected to struggle, but so far Baker Mayfield has played well and the team is 2-0.
If the Colts did decide to move Taylor, here is a potential deal that would send Taylor to the Buccaneers.
Our Trade Idea:
Buccaneers Receive: Jonathan Taylor
Colts Receive: 2024 Second-Round Pick, 2024 Sixth-Round Pick
While the Buccaneers are 2-0, running the football has been an issue for the team so far this season. As of now, Rachaad White is leading the team in rushing yards with 112 through two games. The issue is that White is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. After White on the roster, Mayfield is the team’s other leading rusher at 28 rushing yards.
While White is a young back with some potential, Taylor would be a massive upgrade at the position. When healthy, Taylor is capable of averaging over 5 yards per carry which would be a nice upgrade.
With the Buccaneers overachieving right now, it will be interesting to see if they are aggressive before the trade deadline for a player like Taylor. Furthermore, with Taylor back soon, it will be interesting to monitor the situation.
