The Trade
Browns Receive: 2021 First-Round Pick, 2021 Third-Round Pick, Bisi Johnson
Vikings Receive: Odell Beckham Jr., 2021 Seventh-Round Pick
First of all, this would be a massive deal for both teams involved. It won’t be easy to come to an agreement, but both teams would benefit from making this deal.
From the Browns’ perspective, they would be getting two quality picks and a promising young wide receiver. Beckham brings a lot of drama to the field and that was the case again in 2019. Cleveland also has Jarvis Landry on the roster, who is a more than capable No. 1 wideout.
On the other hand, the Vikings would be getting a superstar wideout to pair with Adam Thielen. After trading Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills this offseason, they could use a bit more firepower. Beckham would be the definition of the kind of firepower they need.
Odell Beckham Jr. seems to be happy with the idea of staying in Cleveland. However, the Browns should be open to listening to offers. If the Vikings come calling with this offer, they should seriously consider it.
Johnson would be a nice addition for the Browns. He caught 31 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns last season in limited time behind Diggs and Thielen. Moving to the Browns might be exactly what he needs to break out.
Minnesota is a piece or two away from serious contention. Beckham would be that missing piece that takes their offense to an elite level.
It will be interesting to see if teams make any big moves with training camp right around the corner. Cleveland may choose to stand pat, as could the Vikings. But, if they do want to shake things up, this would be an ideal way for both teams to do it.
All of that being said, the Odell Beckham Jr. rumors certainly are not over. Even if he plays the entire 2020 season with the Browns, the offseason will surely have his name mentioned quite often.
