Week 15 was a tough one for the Tennessee Titans. They were unable to keep the positive momentum from their Week 14 come-from-behind victory over the Miami Dolphins going, losing in overtime to the Houston Texans 19-16.

The opportunities to win the game were certainly there as the Titans built a double-digit lead early and were up by 10 at halftime. But late-game execution just wasn’t there as the offense struggled to move the ball consistently.

On top of their woes, the Titans also watched rookie quarterback Will Levis get injured during the overtime period. He got hit hard on a number of occasions and in overtime he was hurt after one of the crushing blows. Now, his availability going forward is up in the air.

NFL News & Rumors: Will Levis, Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans Updates

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Levis is dealing with a dreaded high ankle sprain. We saw Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence suit up and play through a similar injury recently, but the Titans are unsure how things will play out with Levis at this time.

Tennessee is figuring out whether or not Levis has to sit out, and if he does, for how long it will be. Should he not be ready for their Christmas Eve matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, it would be veteran Ryan Tannehill getting back into the starting lineup.

Levis has had a solid rookie season as he took over as the team’s starter coming out of the bye in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons. Tannehill injured his ankle before then but never got his starting job back.

In eight starts, Levis has led the Titans to a 3-5 record, completing 59 percent of his passes. He has thrown for 1,792 yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions. Levis has added 57 yards on the ground with another score.

NFL News & Rumors: Will Levis, Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans Updates

This is certainly a disappointing development as the Titans would love for Levis to get as much playing time as possible during his rookie season so that he can learn on the job. But, if he isn’t going to be close to 100 percent healthy, there is no reason to push things.

The playoffs are out of reach for the Titans and sitting him unless he is 100 percent healthy is the right thing to do. There is no reason to put him in harm’s way at less than 100 percent in what is a lost season.
