During Tom Brady’s Let’s Go podcast this week, the legendary quarterback spoke with Buffalo Bills signal-caller Josh Allen and warned him about being too reckless in the running game. He even shared a story from his own career and brought up and injury that no one actually knew he had with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 46-year-old said that while he was with the Buccaneers in 2021, he suffered a separated shoulder while doing a quarterback sneak late in the season.

“From my standpoint, you’re putting yourself in harm’s way, and when you put yourself in harm’s way, it doesn’t take much for someone to land on you, to set you back,” Brady explained. “For example, I separated my left shoulder [and] I separated my right shoulder. In fact, in a quarterback sneak when we played when I was in Tampa, I separated my shoulder on a quarterback sneak on the goal line.”

Brady managed to punch the ball into the end zone on the play, but he isn’t sure if doing that was worth what he had to go through the remainder of the year.

“And it bothered me the rest of the season, but look, I was trying to gain one yard, and gaining that one yard cost me eight weeks of arm pain,” Brady added. “Now, In my mind, could I have given that to a 230-pound halfback, yeah probably could have, but in the moment I’m like ‘no, I’ve got to get this ball in’, so that’s kind of the decisions you make as a quarterback.”

Brady spent the final three seasons of his illustrious NFL career in Tampa Bay after joining the club via free agency in March 2020. He won a Super Bowl during his debut campaign with the team. During that 2021 season in which he separated his shoulder, Brady led the league with 43 touchdown passes.

Of course, Tom Brady is most known for his 20-year run with the New England Patriots, where he captured six Super Bowl championships and established himself as the consensus greatest quarterback to ever play the game.

The future Hall-of-Famer made 15 Pro Bowl appearances and won three MVP awards throughout his 23-year NFL tenure.
