Vikings: 3 players poised to break out for Minnesota in 2020

Adam Thielen, Wide Receiver

Maybe this doesn’t quite count as a breakout. Adam Thielen has been a good player in the league since 2016, and a great one since 2017, but even with his elite production, Thielen could take another step forward in 2020.

Thielen’s 2019 season was something of a disappointment, but not because of anything Thielen could control — rather, the Vikings star receiver suffered through injuries during a large chunk of his 2019 campaign. Even in the games he did play, Thielen was forced to share the spotlight with another star receiver in Stefon Diggs. Both of those problems should be gone in 2020.

Thielen is healthy and the undisputed man in charge of the Vikings receiver group. Minnesota did draft another pass-catcher in Justin Jefferson, but Thielen is still set to be the go-to in that passing attack.

Minnesota has seen Thielen produce at an elite level while sharing targets with Diggs, but now that he’s set to get even more volume, Thielen could put up career numbers across the board. Even in a run-heavy offense like Minnesota’s, Thielen’s potential is through the roof.
