Vikings: 4 goals for Minnesota in the 2020 NFL season

The Minnesota Vikings find themselves in a unique spot as they approach the 2020 NFL season. Usually, teams with a lot of turnover aren’t looking to content for a playoff spot; rather, they’re trying to reset and built from the ground up.

The difference with this Vikings squad is that despite losing nearly half of their starters from last season, they’ll be looking to make a playoff push in 2020. They’re not rebuilding but at the same time, they don’t have a very established roster.

They’ll be putting out at least eight new starters on defense, making turnover a huge problem for a defense that held opponents to the fifth-least points per game last season. This includes the loss of three defensive backs and a good portion of their defensive line.

It won’t be easy for this Vikings squad. Despite having as good of talent as anybody in the division, they reside in the NFC North, one of the tougher divisions as the highest level of football in the world. With Aaron Rodgers’ Green Bay Packers and the rising Chicago Bears, Mike Zimmer will have his work cut out for him in this coming season.

Fortunately, Zimmer has done a good job keeping his team in contention for a division title year after year. That being said, toppling Green Bay in this division is a tall task and Minnesota was swept by the team hailing from Wisconsin last year. Prior to this, Zimmer had success against Green Bay, something that he’ll be hoping to replicate this coming season.
