The Washington Commanders made a significant move on Thursday that captured the attention of NFL fans. They secured their new head coach by luring him away from their NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.

As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Dan Quinn, who previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys, is now set to assume the head coaching role with the Commanders.

Interestingly, this transition has raised speculation about the possibility of a Cowboys star player following Quinn to Washington. Commanders receiver Jahan Dotson alluded to an article from earlier this month in which Cowboys standout Micah Parsons playfully mentioned the idea of joining Quinn at his next coaching destination, jokingly stating, “he might take me with him, you never know.”

Dotson has openly begun his recruitment process of bringing Parsons to the Commanders.

While Parsons and Dotson share a history as college teammates at Penn State, it’s essential to acknowledge that this banter could be nothing more than friends engaging in light-hearted jesting.

Parsons, recognized as one of the most coveted players in the league, remains a vital asset for the Cowboys, who undoubtedly aim to retain him at any cost.

Over his three NFL seasons, Micah Parsons has consistently earned Pro Bowl selections and is well on his way to securing his third All-Pro recognition. Last season marked a pinnacle in his career as a pass rusher, as he amassed an impressive career-high of 14 sacks. Notably, this accomplishment becomes even more impressive when considering that Parsons routinely faces double and even triple-team defensive schemes from opposing offensive lines.

With Quinn’s departure, the rivalry between the Washington Commanders and the Dallas Cowboys is set to intensify further. Numerous players and coaches now find themselves interconnected between the two teams.

In recent history, the Cowboys have dominated this rivalry, winning five of the last six meetings. However, with Quinn at the helm of the Commanders in 2024, the competition takes on a new dimension, as he seeks to gain an advantage over his former team.
