Who Tops the List? Patrick Mahomes & Russell Wilson
If No. 1 on the list was not determined already, it was after the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes took over in Kansas City in 2018 and immediately won MVP by throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns. In 2019, Mahomes missed two games and finished with 4,031 yards. He has led the Chiefs to a 33-7 record in the regular season.
The Chiefs were finally able to get over the hump in 2019 and win the Super Bowl. Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP and earned a massive contract. The Chiefs signed him to a 10-year, $503 million deal. If he stays on this pace, Mahomes can possibly end up being the best player ever when his career is over.
The list truly starts at No. 2 and it is hard to argue against Russell Wilson. He won the job as a rookie in 2012 and earned his first of six Pro Bowl appearances. Wilson has always been a talent passer but he has taken it to another level over the last few seasons. In 2019, he threw for 4,110 yards with 31 touchdowns and five interceptions.
Wilson has thrown for less than 10 interceptions in five of his eight years in the league. The most amazing stat is that he has yet to miss a game. He has played in and started every game during his tenure with the Seahawks. He has compiled a record of 86-41-1 to go along with three NFC West titles, two NFC Championships, and one Super Bowl ring.
