Next Up? Aaron Rodgers at No. 3

Aaron Rodgers is next on this list and it should not be a question. Just sit back and ask yourself, would you rather have Rodgers or Dak Prescott? Rodgers or Matthew Stafford? Rodgers or Deshaun Watson? All of them need to prove they can win before being put above a future Hall of Famer. Tom Brady is now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has a chance to put up big numbers in that offense, but he is outside of the top five for the upcoming season.

The two quarterbacks that can rival Rodgers for the third spot are Drew Brees and reigning MVP Lamar Jackson. Brees and Rodgers is a coin flip. The production that Rodgers is able to put out with the lack of talent at wide receiver is impressive. Outside of Davante Adams, Green Bay is poor at receiver.

Brees has the luxury of Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara in the offense. As far as Jackson goes, we need to see him win in the postseason. He will put up big regular-season numbers because of his ability to run. Jackson has had a hard time winning in the postseason because he has to throw the ball once the Baltimore Ravens have fallen behind.

Jackson is a player that has a big following. Many might not like that Rodgers is listed ahead of him but this is another instance where you have to ask who you would rather have for one season. This is not a ranking based on the future. Rodgers is 36 years old and Jackson is 23 so the choice for the future is clear. But if a team is in the Super Bowl and can name their quarterback, they will pick Rodgers over Jackson. If not, they need to re-evaluate.

The NFL is full of up-and-coming talent at the quarterback position. The future is bright for the league and it will be entertaining to watch. In 2019, Rodgers proved that he still has something left as he won the NFC North, earned a first-round bye, and made a run to the NFC Championship.

Heading into 2020, Aaron Rodgers’ ranking can vary depending on who is making the list. He is still a top-three talent and should by no means be listed outside of the top five.
