Will Levis Reportedly Plummeting Down Draft Boards

Will Levis, 2023 NFL Draft

Kentucky quarterback Will Levis has been regarded as one of the consensus top four players at his position in the 2023 NFL Draft class. With so many teams looking to land a long-term option at the position, he has been mentioned as a possible target in top-four and a virtual lock to be selected inside the top 10.

After Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud, Will Levis is right in the mix for being the next quarterback off the board. Depending on who you talk to, Anthony Richardson is more highly rated, but there was no doubt that the Kentucky product would be in the mix.

There is a lot to like when it comes to Will Levis as a prospect. He has the prototypical size, standing 6’4” and weighing 229 pounds. A capable runner, the physical gifts he possesses cannot be taught, which gives him a leg up on the competition.

While there are certainly some negatives to his game, there is a lot to work with. A lot of what he needs improvement on can be coached and his experience playing in a pro-style offense with the Wildcats will only help his transition.

However, it takes more than just physical tools and athleticism to succeed at the next level. A lot can be discovered during the pre-draft. Sometimes that helps a player shoot up the board, and others it will cause their stock to drop. Unfortunately for Will Levis, he is reportedly suffering from the latter.

According to Chad Forbes on Twitter, Will Levis has been bombing his interviews during the pre-draft process. He is hearing a lot of negative things about him, which could cause a slide into the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

During draft season, it is fair to question the legitimacy of some reports and where they are coming from. Did a team outside of the top 10 leak these reports, hoping other teams would sour on Will Levis and pass on him so that he falls into their laps?

Things like this certainly need to be taken with a grain of salt, but franchises will also do their own due diligence. If there are character concerns, we could see him start to tumble down the draft board.

A lot can be taken from what Will Levis decides to do about being at the draft. If he attends, it is fair to assume he has received some sort of guarantee that he will be picked early. If he opts to skip it, he could be worried about his stock dropping and not getting picked as early as he had hoped he would.
