Aside from the fact that Daniels is already familiar with Green Bay’s defense, he would probably see a good bit of playing time with how the defensive line is currently constructed.
Both Dean Lowry and Tyler Lancaster didn’t make much of an impact for Green Bay’s defense last season as their 3-4 defensive ends. Signing Daniels to come in to fill one of those spots along with a draft pick or another free agent to fill the other side could end up being a great decision for Mike Pettine’s defense.
The only draw back to signing Daniels is his rough injury history as of late. He only suited up for nine games last season before being placed on injured reserve. He hasn’t played a full 16 game season since 2016, which will be a red flag for any team considering signing him.
Nevertheless, if Green Bay can bring Daniels in for a cheap deal and have him be a rotational interior lineman for their defense, it would certainly be a solid signing.
