Is Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown angling for a trade to the New England Patriots?
His social media activity suggests that he is, as he made Tom Brady his profile picture on his X account and recently followed Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett and wide receiver K.J. Osborn.
Of course, this could all be much ado about nothing. Or maybe Brown is seriously dissatisfied with the Eagles and wants out.
Remember: this past year, Brown seemed to be getting frustrated with the way things were going, and some wondered if he would ultimately ask for a trade.
Conor Roche of ClutchPoints has concocted a potential trade package the Patriots could offer the Eagles for Brown, suggesting that New England offers a third-round draft pick, a conditional 2025 second-rounder that turns into a first if the Pats make the playoffs in 2024 and a 2025 fourth-round selection in exchange for Brown.
The Patriots are in desperate need of weapons and will likely be taking a quarterback with the third overall pick, so it would be nice for New England to set its incoming rookie up with an elite target.
Brown is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and hauled in 106 receptions for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns en route to his third Pro Bowl appearance.
The 26-year-old spent the first three years of his career with the Tennessee Titans before being dealt to Philadelphia in April 2022.
Of course, Philly doesn’t have to trade Brown, even if he asks to be moved. He is under contract through 2026, so the Eagles can essentially tell him to knock it off and play.
But, if Philadelphia does decide to place A.J. Brown on the trading block, the Pats would certainly represent a realistic landing spot. It would probably take a first-round pick to pry him away from Philly, however.
