Dallas Cowboys Trade Up To No. 8 Pick In Shocking Proposal

Could the Dallas Cowboys make a blockbuster move and trade into the top 10 in the NFL Draft?

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay suggests that the Cowboys attempt to move up to the No. 8 pick, which is owned by the Atlanta Falcons.

He proposes that Dallas sends the 24th pick, a second-rounder and a 2025 first-round selection to the Falcons in exchange for the eighth overall pick.

This would allow the Cowboys to select a weapon like wide receiver Rome Odunze or tight end Brock Bowers, which is something quarterback Dak Prescott sorely needs. They lack talent behind star wide out CeeDee Lamb, so bringing in someone like Odunze or Bowers (or potentially even LSU receiver Malik Nabers if he is available) could work wonders in that offense.

Dallas could also select Notre Dame tackle Joe Olt to shore up their offensive line. Remember: the team lost mainstay Tyron Smith to free agency last month.

And why would Atlanta do this? Well, acquiring more picks would allow the club to fill out the roster more heading into 2024.

The Falcons signed Kirk Cousins in free agency, which is a massive upgrade to what they employed under center last season. Atlanta still managed to contend for an NFC South division title even with Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke trading places at quarterback, so Cousins may be enough to put the club over the top.

Of course, it would help if the Falcons had some more pieces, as quarterback was hardly the only problem for Atlanta in 2023. Adding more picks would allow Atlanta to bring in more talent to help make a postseason push.

We’ll see if the Cowboys and Falcons can hook up on a trade by next Thursday.
