1 Insane Stat To Note For The Eagles Before 2023 Season

The Philadelphia Eagles earned a lot of accolades during the 2022 season. They went wire-to-wire as the team with the best record in the NFC, finishing 14-3 and earning home-field advantage in the postseason. Philadelphia made the most of it, winning the NFC before losing 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

Heading into the 2023 season, the Eagles should once again be one of the most dominant teams in the NFL. Despite losing both coordinators and multiple key players from last season, they are still loaded on both sides of the ball.

One of the players to take note of heading into the season is pass rusher Brandon Graham. Throughout all of the highs and lows that the Eagles have experienced over the last few years, Graham has been one of the few constants.

Despite turning 35 years old in April, the 2010 first-round pick out of Michigan has shown no signs of slowing down. Last season, he earned a grade of 89.8 from PFF, which was the best on the Eagles. According to PFF, that performance last season was actually a historic one that puts him in rarified air.

“Brandon Graham joined Aaron Donald and Von Miller as the only defensive linemen in PFF history with an 80.0-plus overall grade in nine seasons with at least 400 snaps played. Coming off a major injury last season, Graham displayed his usual dominance despite being in a more rotational role. At 35 years old, he doesn’t carry the load he used to, but he is still an excellent contributor when his time comes.”

Bouncing back at 34 years old after tearing his Achilles in 2021 is quite an impressive feat for Graham. There are a lot of players who would have called it a career at that point, but the Eagles are certainly glad he didn’t given how productive he ended up being.

Graham was one of four players to record double-digit sacks for the Eagles last season, which was an NFL record. He recorded 11 of Philadelphia’s 70 sacks on the season, falling only two sacks shy of the record set by the Chicago Bears in 1984.

What makes Graham’s production last season all the more impressive was how little time on the field he needed to rack up those stats. He played in all 17 regular season games but was on the field for only 474 snaps, which was 43 percent of them. Graham hadn’t played that few snaps since his first two seasons in the NFL.
