Philip Rivers
The million-dollar question for the Colts this offseason is what they plan on doing at the quarterback position. Following the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck prior, Indianapolis was inclined to turn to Jacoby Brissett as their starter in 2019.
Despite a fast start from Brissett in 2019, he began to falter as the season progressed. When the season concluded, GM Chris Ballard left the door open for a quarterback change in 2020.
Among the veterans available in free agency, some have linked the Colts as a team that could pursue Philip Rivers. If it was the Rivers that played five years ago, then Indianapolis should absolutely be interested in him.
However, this is a 38-year-old Rivers that is noticeably nearing the end of his career. The veteran signal-caller threw 4,615 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions in his final season with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Rather than sign Rivers, the Colts should select a quarterback in the first round and keep Brissett. As bad as it may sound, starting Brissett for another year would be better than signing Rivers.
