The Tennessee Titans are just 2-4 on the season, so there has been some speculation that they could potentially move running back Derrick Henry ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.
Shervon Fakhimi of ClutchPoints has named a couple of prime destinations for Henry in the event of a trade, mentioning the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills as potential suitors.
The Ravens have been in need of a running back ever since J.K. Dobbins went down with a torn Achilles earlier in the season. Gus Edwards has been doing an admirable job in Dobbins’ stead, but the run-heavy Baltimore offense could certainly use an elite guy like Henry in its backfield.
The Bills have been relying on second-year halfback James Cook, who has been solid in rushing for 419 yards and a touchdown while averaging 4.8 yards per carry. However, Buffalo could certainly stand to bring in a change-of-pace partner for Cook. The Bills currently have Latavius Murray as their No. 2 back, but Henry would represent an obvious upgrade in that department.
But why would the Titans move Henry?
Well, Tennessee appears to be going nowhere fast, and it was unable to reach a long-term agreement with Henry prior to the season. Henry is 29 years old, so with the Titans seeming headed for an inevitable rebuild, the three-time Pro Bowler no longer fits their timeline.
We already saw Tennessee move safety Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles, so it stands to reason that the club could make some more deals before the end of the month. While it may be painful, Henry may end up being a casualty.
Through six games this season, Derrick Henry has rushed for 425 yards and three scores while logging 4.3 yards per tote. He was originally drafted by the Titans back in 2016.
