The Houston Texans landed wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Bills earlier this month, heightening their status among AFC contenders.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans spoke on the addition of Diggs this week, and he seems understandably pumped about the acquisition.

“With Diggs, adding him is, one of those guys I talked about,” Ryans said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC. “He’s been a great player in this league for a long time, well respected and a great teammate. … When you look at him and you watch the tape and you put it on, no one doubts the playmaker that he is. He changes games for the teams that he’s been a part of, and we’re anticipating the same thing for us.”

Houston traded a 2025 second-round pick to the Bills in exchange for Diggs.

Diggs is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and hauled in 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns.

It was a strange year for Diggs, as he logged five 100-yard performances over his first six games and then did not register a single 100-yard outing the rest of the way.

Still, that did not stop him from making his fourth straight trip to the Pro Bowl.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Maryland, was originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He spent the first five years of his career with the Vikings before being traded to Buffalo in March 2020.

It was when he joined the Bills that Diggs truly broke out, as he led the league in both receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535) to go along with eight scores during his debut season in Buffalo. He earned a First-Team All-Pro selection that year.

The Texans are obviously hoping to get similar production out of Stefon Diggs in 2024.
