2. Yannick Ngakoue

There aren’t enough words in the English dictionary to describe what Chandler Jones has meant to the Cardinals since he came over via trade back in 2016. During that span, the 30-year-old has started all 119 games, across which he’s posted 210 tackles, 60 sacks, 90 QB hits, 17 forced fumbles and 10 passes defended. This past season, he led the NFL with eight forced fumbles and finished second with 19 sacks en route to his second All-Pro nod with Arizona.

The Cardinals have needed every last bit of that superhuman production, too. Outside of Jones and Terrell Sugs, the latter of whom is no longer with the team, nobody registered more than three sacks in 2019.

That’s precisely why Arizona should look to sign Yannic Ngakoue next offseason, assuming he isn’t traded before then. If there’s one thing we know about the Pro Bowl pass rusher, it’s that he won’t be playing in Jacksonville beyond 2020. Sure, signing Ngakoue would likely prevent the Cardinals from making other additions in free agency, but they desperately need a bookend for Jones.

Since entering the NFL as a third-round pick in 2016, the Maryland product has recorded 37.5 total sacks, good for an average of 9.4 per season. Do we really need to continue?
