3 defensive players the Dolphins can target at No. 26 in the 2020 NFL Draft

Xavier McKinney

Seeing that Miami didn’t sign a well-known safety in free agency, they could very well use this year’s draft to address the position. If the Dolphins are keen on taking one in the first round, Xavier McKinney would make the most sense for them at No. 26.

Back in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Dolphins selected Minkah Fitzpatrick in the first round, only for them to trade him a year later. While McKinney isn’t the deep-ranging safety that Fitzpatrick was, McKinney is another Alabama safety that should have success in the NFL.

In his final two seasons at Alabama, McKinney recorded 169 tackles, 15 deflections, and five interceptions. At the next level, McKinney would be best suited as a safety that spends some of his time close to the line of scrimmage. The Dolphins would be getting yet another versatile defender if they landed McKinney.
