Combines for 6+ Sacks & Interceptions
There are various ways Isaiah Simmons will be able to make big plays for the Cardinals during his rookie campaign. Being frequently tasked with covering the tight end position position will put him in a position to make a play on the ball for potential pass deflections and interceptions.
While the Cardinals will primarily be using Simmons as an inside linebacker, they will also likely still get creative with using him as a defensive back in nickel packages on passing downs. This will enable him to cover the slot and serve as an extra pass rusher off the edge at times.
Being able to play such a versatile role will provide Simmons with the potential to make big plays in coverage and in pass-rush situations. It may be a lofty projection, but combining for at least six sacks and interceptions is a bar that Simmons appears capable of reaching in 2020.
The ultimate ceiling Simmons has both as a playmaker in pass coverage and as a pass rusher is impressive. It just may take time for him to rack up a high volume figure in each respective category with the typical adjustment to the NFL that takes place along with a uniquely shortened offseason.
