3 ideal targets for the Vikings at No. 22 overall in the NFL Draft

Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU

One of the more intriguing wide receiver options in the 2020 NFL Draft appears to be Jalen Reagor out of TCU. His stats from last season don’t necessary jump off the page, but his playmaking ability in the open field is nothing short of impressive.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com highlighted that Reagor experienced a drop in his production in 2019 due to ‘spotty quarterback play.’ Despite that, the incredible speed and general skill-set he possesses would be an asset for any team projecting as a ‘versatile receiver’ in the NFL.

Spotty quarterback play helped cause a production drop, but his focus and competitiveness also seemed spotty at times. Reagor is a smooth athlete with blazing speed who has more playmaking talent than receiver skill and play-callers need to account for that when determining how to utilize him. He’s electric with the ball in his hands so getting it to him quickly rather than asking him to consistently make plays for himself as a ball-winner could be crucial. When 2019 is balanced against his 2018, the grade and projection begin to climb with a versatile receiver who’s able to spice the offensive gumbo.

It seems Reagor’s draft stock has slowed in momentum since the NFL Scouting Combine, which is something the Vikings could to capitalize on. That has been the rest of underwhelming performance in the agility drills coupled with this year’d class having so much receiver talent.

It will be difficult to overcome the loss of Stefon Diggs because his speed and smooth route running was crucial to the offense. However, there is a lot to like about the potential fit for Jalen Reagor with the Vikings to help fill that void alongside Adam Thielen.
