The 2024 NFL Draft has concluded, leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers with an impressive haul.

While they acquired quality talent across various positions, notable gaps remain in their roster, particularly in the secondary and wide receiver corps.

Despite the promising additions from the draft, Pittsburgh still needs to bolster its ranks with experienced veterans to ensure a competitive lineup for the upcoming training camp.

Here are two seasoned players the Steelers should consider adding to their roster.

DJ Chark, Wide Receiver

The Steelers’ wide receiver depth is currently lacking, even after drafting Roman Wilson.

Prior to the draft, the team had George Pickens surrounded by uncertainty. While Wilson brings promise, having a reliable third option, like DJ Chark, would provide insurance against injuries.

Chark’s skill set as a height-weight-speed deep threat would complement the team well, allowing Wilson to shift to the slot and Pickens to take on the X role in the offense.

Patrick Peterson, Cornerback

Despite being cut, the possibility of Patrick Peterson returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers has never been entirely ruled out. Pittsburgh seemed inclined to explore draft options before committing to a veteran cornerback.

However, with the draft concluded, the team is left with a noticeable absence of a capable slot cornerback. While Peterson may no longer excel in outside coverage, his adaptability as a hybrid slot defender in the latter part of last season makes him a valuable addition.

Bringing Peterson back would not only provide veteran leadership but also fill a critical role in the secondary.
