Eagles’ Ground Game
The Philadelphia Eagles entered the game against Washington without their leading and starting rusher, Miles Sanders. Instead, the starting nod went to Boston Scott who didn’t last the entire game before heading to the locker room with an injuty.
From there, the Eagles had to rely on Corey Clement who gained just 19 yards on six carries. As a team, the Eagles rushed the ball 17 times for a total of 57 yards and an average of 3.4 yards per carry.
Due to their lack of a ground game, Wentz attempted 42 passes and was sacked a total of eight times while throwing two interceptions.
The Eagles cannot continue this trend if they have plans on making the playoffs. A Sanders return will balance the offense out but it was an awful approach in their first game of the season. Up 17-0, the Eagles could not run any time off the clock which put the offense in a predictable situation.
