What To Expect From Derek Carr In 2020
If the Raiders want to make a run at a playoff appearance this season, they need their starting quarterback to step up. Jon Gruden is still confident that Carr can turn things around, but if he doesn’t, Marcus Mariota will take his place.
Here are a few numbers that the Raiders should be expecting from Carr in 2020.
At Least 4,200 Passing Yards
That’s right, Carr will improve his passing yard total from 4,054 in 2019 to at least 4,200 in 2020. He has another lethal weapon in Ruggs, which will add up to more big plays down the field. Carr should be able to exceed this number, but it’s something to expect nonetheless.
A Major Rise In Touchdown Passes
As previously mentioned, the 21 touchdown passes that Carr threw last season were simply not enough. He has more weapons, which will result in more scores. Carr should end up throwing at least 30 touchdown passes this season with an improved group around him.
10 Interceptions At Most
Finally, the Raiders need to make sure that they keep their turnover numbers low. They have an improved defense, but they can’t allow teams to get the football in good field position via turnovers.
Carr threw eight interceptions last season, which is a solid number, and the 2020 season will see him throw 10 or fewer.
