Lucas Niang
Besides the guard position, the Vikings need to begin thinking about finding an eventual replacement for Riley Reiff. Reiff is entering the second-to-last year of his contract and carries over $27 million in cap hits over the next two seasons.
However, with a low dead-cap penalty, Minnesota could release Reiff with little-to-no financial repercussions in the next two offseasons. Taking that into account, Lucas Niang would be a nice option to replace Reiff in the next year or two.
Despite a remarkable career at TCU, Niang suffered a hip injury in 2019 that is causing some concern ahead of the draft. With the coronavirus pandemic preventing teams from conducting physicals with prospects, teams may stray away from selecting Niang. If Niang falls to the Vikings at No. 58, it’s going to be tough for them to pass on the towering offensive tackle out of TCU.
