Form Dominant Duo with Cameron Jordan
Playing alongside an elite talent like J.J. Watt helped Jadeveon Clowney to thrive during his time with the Houston Texans. Signing with the New Orleans Saints would enable him to do the same considering he’d be paired up with Cameron Jordan.
The impact Jordan has provided the Saints over the years has solidified himself as an elite pass rusher. To put his impact into perspective, Pro Football Focus noted his total of 405 registered pressures over the last five seasons is fewer than only Aaron Donald, Khalil Mack, and Von Miller.
The Saints still lack a dynamic pass rusher opposite of Jordan and a talent like Clowney would provide them with exactly that. While Marcus Davenport displayed growth last season, he isn’t quite yet on the level of Clowney in the impact department.
The Saints could theoretically have Jordan and Clowney as their starters on the edge and have an effective rotation behind them with Davenport leading that charge. It would enable them to use a layered attack and perhaps get creative with different combinations.
