3 reasons the Panthers should consider trading down in the NFL Draft

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

For starters, the Panthers need more than just the seventh overall pick to win this draft. They need multiple decent picks rather than just one great player. The Panthers have several holes across their roster that could easily be filled by mid-round talent.

By trading back, Carolina could earn at least one more pick to spend on a starting-caliber player. While the top-10 picks in this class have the potential to be historically good, they won’t be good enough alone to take Carolina to the next level.

Depending on who the Panthers find as a trade partner, they could earn as much as an additional second-round pick. Many late first-round options would immediately help Carolina, and adding another higher pick would not hurt.
