3. The Patriots Want To Remain Competitive

Let’s just take a look at the current situation for the Patriots. Belichick is not the kind of head coach or general manager who will be fine with taking a big step back from contention. He will do everything in his power to keep winning.

Assuming that is the case, the Patriots need to take a chance on Newton. With the chip that he has on his shoulder, Newton could return to prominence. He would certainly help them compete more than Stidham at this stage of their careers.

Newton may not be the superstar MVP that he once was, but he could still put up solid numbers. Give him an offense like the Patriots run and he could do some serious damage.
