2. If Healthy, Newton Can Still Put Up Numbers

Secondly, the Patriots should take a risk on Cam Newton because he has proven that he can still put up numbers. Granted, he missed most of the 2019 season due to injury, which is a major concern. However, Newton played in 14 games in 2018 and showed production.

Newton completed 67.9 percent of his pass attempts for 3,395 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He also picked up 488 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

The Patriots would be getting a version of Newton that seems to be coming back to full health with extra motivation. Newton has been very adamant about his criticism of the way the Panthers have handled his release. With that chip on his shoulder, it would not be surprising to see Newton come back with a vengeance.
