3 reasons the Redskins should not pursue a trade for Cam Newton

1. Dwayne Haskins Is The Long-Term Future Of The Redskins

Finally, the Redskins should not consider moving on from Dwayne Haskins this offseason. He is coming off of his rookie season, and while he struggled at times there is obviously talent there. Allowing Rivera to come in and begin a new culture could help Haskins develop faster.

Haskins played in nine games with the Redskins as a rookie in 2019, completing 58.6 percent of his pass attempts for 1,365 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions. They weren’t huge numbers, but they weren’t awful either.

At just 22 years old, Haskins is the long-term face of the franchise. Taking that job away from him now would mess with his mentality and could destroy his future or will to play for the Redskins. Washington should stick with their young quarterback.
