3 steals the Panthers should target in the fifth round or later in the NFL Draft

The Panthers already have one of the best running backs in the NFL in Christian McCaffrey. McCaffrey is deadly through the air and on the ground, but too much use could spell bad injury luck in the future. The Panthers need to bring in a back that can shoulder some of the run game for the Panthers.

AJ Dillon is a great option that could be available in the fifth round. Dillon has been pegged all over the place in most mock drafts between the fourth and sixth rounds and has the talent to be a steal wherever he is taken.

Dillon is a bruiser that also has the speed to make him a complete running threat. At 6’0’’ and 247 pounds paired with 4.53-second speed, Dillon could be a great change of pace back for the Panthers. Dillon would not need a mountain of snaps to make his presence felt.

The Panthers could use Dillon sparingly and still have a dominant goal-line back. After a team spends the whole game trying to catch the shifty McCaffrey, AJ Dillon would be a frightening second option for Carolina to utilize.
