Dontari Poe, Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers elected to decline the final-year option of Dontari Poe making him an unrestricted free agent. This appears to be the most likely option for the Cowboys as they are already discussing a deal with Poe and it could even be done by the end of tonight, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Poe is coming off a 2019 campaign with 11 appearances and totals of 22 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and four sacks. He provides a balance of pass rushing ability while being able to make an impact at stopping the run.

There is an added bonus when it comes to the idea of signing Poe for the Cowboys. He was teammates with Gerald McCoy last season during their time together with the Panthers. Having pre-existing familiarity with one another could help with hitting the ground running.
