4 Major Stats Prove Josh Allen Is Not The Bills’ Problem

On Monday, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills lost a heartbreaker at home to the Denver Broncos at home, 24-22. The loss occurred when Denver kicker Wil Lutz nailed a 36-yard field goal as time expired.

Lutz had missed his first game-winning field goal attempt, but Buffalo was called for a penalty because it had too many men on the field, giving him another shot.

The team responded on Tuesday by firing offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and replacing him with Joe Brady, who has been its quarterbacks coach ever since last season. Brady had previously served as the Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator in 2020 and 2021.

Plenty of negative attention is surrounding quarterback Josh Allen, who completed only 15 of 26 passes, threw two interceptions and committed a fumble. On the season, he has thrown 11 picks, which is the most in the NFL.

NFL News & Rumors: Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills Updates

It is human nature to blame him for the Bills’ mediocre 5-5 record, as he does play the most important position in all of team sports. However, Allen is still among the league leaders in several positive categories, and a deeper look at the situation reveals a pressing need for them.

For the last few years, Allen has been considered one of the NFL’s elite signal-callers, and despite his issues with ball security, that shouldn’t really change. He continues to be one of the best dual-threat players around, with 246 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns to his name this season.

While wide receiver Stefon Diggs is one of the best in the league (he’s currently fifth in receiving yards), none of their other players have reached 500 receiving yards yet this season. Even worse, Davis has a 60.0 percent catch rate this season, and on Monday, he caught only two of the six passes that were thrown his way.

The foundation for success seems to be there for Buffalo, but it needs to do plenty of work in order to get to the Super Bowl anytime soon.
