3. Shaq Barrett Led Impressive Defensive Outing

The Buccaneers’ defense did a phenomenal job of containing the Broncos’ offense. Not only was Denver contained to just 10 points in this matchup — three of the quarters in this game featured them coming up scoreless.

A critical element in the Buccaneers’ success on defense involved the individual contributions of Shaq Barrett. He finished his performance with six combined tackles (three for loss) and added a pair of sacks to go along with it — one of which resulted in a safety.

With how strong of a performance the Buccaneers’ defense had, their offense didn’t have to put up any points in the second half to win. In fact, Tampa Bay’s offense added three additional points after halftime with the defense only putting up just as many due to a safety.

If the Buccaneers’ defense can continue to make a strong impact as they showed to be capable of achieving in Week 3, it will be a highly successful season. It will just need to be achieved against tougher matchups.
